We will also have an Q & A along with discussion and conversation about their our blog .
The Regina Photography Series is a visual photographic homage to our late grandmother Mama Regina. We are using our journey back home to Nigeria as a platform to start the conversation about the importance o of making the journey back “home”. Our photography highlights the beauty of everyday of life in Africa, based on our Nigerian- American lenses . .
The show will feature the highly creative differential works of Chidinma which has been compared to that of Picasso and Gauguin by a university professor will be on display and available for purchase for the general public. Her works includes a textural mixture of oil paints, fabric, paper, ink, and gouache on different surfaces. Chidinma’s style is a fusion of Contemporary black art, illustration and portraiture with a range of subject matters based on the Black experience. Her biggest social experiment entitled “One Drop” focuses on feminine beauty and what constitutes blackness. Counting as number one of eight, “One Drop” is a passionate exploration of culture, the definition of beauty, as well as forced perspective. “My ultimate goal is to shift our focus on whom the woman is rather than what her hair looks like, facial structure and complexion. My work focuses on what my century brings to the ideas of race, femininity, and sexual allure. I want my work to change the cliché narratives in the portraits of black women in the arts.”
